IPIL, Philippines – Riding-in-tandem gunmen have fatally shot a village councilor in Alicia town, Zamboanga Sibugay Sunday evening, December 28.
The police have identified the victim as Amin Gampal, a village councilor of Barangay Minundas in nearby Payao town.
Investigators said the victim was riding his motorcycle past 7 p.m. at Barangay Kawayan.
Upon reaching Purok Avocado of Barangay Kawayan, according to the investigation, the gunmen appeared and waylaid him.
The victim died on the spot as the gunmen fled from the crime scene.
Personnel of Alicia Municipal Police Station are conducting follow-up investigation to identify the suspect. (THE MINDANAO SUN)
