Magnitude 4.7 earthquake jolts Zamboanga del Norte town, nearby areas

A magnitude 4.7 earthquake has jolted most parts of the Zamboanga Peninsula before midnight Tuesday, March 3.

With its epicenter 21 kilometers, north-west of Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte, the tremor was felt by the residents of Ipil town, some 70 kilometers away.

According to Allan Rommel Labayog, head of PHIVOLCS Zamboanga, the earthquake had a depth of 34 kilometers.

PHIVOLCS had recorded an aftershock after the 10:55 p.m. tremor.

And another aftershock was recorded just a few minutes after.

Initial reports had indicated that the earthquake had not caused any damage to properties at its epicenter and nearby areas. (Featured Image: PIA9)
