DAVAO CITY – Over 198,594 indigent senior citizens of the 264,792 region-wide beneficiaries have already received their social pension for the second semester from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI.
To ensure safety among the beneficiaries and department employees, DSWD has coordinated with local government units (LGUs) in the payout to observe the required minimum health protocol.
The department reiterates its previous advisory and reminder that the beneficiaries may send a representative to claim their social pension on their behalf, considering the protocols set in place that may cause them inconvenience or difficulty.
There are ongoing conduct of payouts for the remaining beneficiaries in Davao City and separate payouts for those who could not claim the grants in the provinces.
Each beneficiary receives six month’ worth of social pension amounting to P3,000.
Beneficiaries of the Social Pension Program are senior citizens who are sickly, or have disabilities; not receiving pension from Social Security System (SSS), Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) or from the Armed Forces of the Philippines Mutual Benefit Association; and do not have a permanent source of income or regular support from family or relatives.
