A three-year-old boy has died in a fire that razed eight houses to the ground Thursday, May 21.

The police had identified the lone fatality as Fairan Mabol Hannan.

Investigation showed that the fire had started in one house at around 6 p.m. in Barangay Don Andres, Ipil, the capital town of Zamboanga Sibugay.

Witnesses said the responding fire personnel arrived at the scene after 30 minutes since it broke out.

“They could have saved the boy and some houses if the responding firefighters arrived earlier,” said a man, a responder when it first broke out.

Both parents of the victim were out of their house at the time it happened.

The police theorized that a faulty electrical wiring had caused the incident.

A witness, however, said it started in one house with an unattended fire in the kitchen. The witness declined to disclose which house the fire started.

The following are the owners of the eight houses, namely: Faikh Aradji Hannan, Virginia Manolong, Noel Hechanova, Farrah Hechanova, Shiela May Hechanova, Jocelyn Bonlugne, Jose Ariola, and Ramon Ariola. (Mindanao Sun)
